Saturday, October 18 at 11 am the new playground for Pixie Playschool at Spotswood Reformed Church had its grand opening. Rev. Joseph Woods and his wife, Louise Woods, who championed the preschool over 44 years ago, were present to see a plaque dedicated in their honor. Members of the congregation and other community volunteers who raised funds, donated materials, and participated in constructing the playground were on hand to witness the beautiful success of their efforts. Current and former students of Pixie Preschool inaugurated the playground– by playing on it! A lovely reception followed in the church social hall.
“The Spotswood Reformed Church and Pixie Preschool had the pleasure of working with the CDC to accomplish the new playground” said Deacon David Sliker, chair of the Pixie Preschool Task Force. “Jean & Michelle’s enthusiasm & tireless efforts were just what we needed to keep the project on track. Their passion and overall knowledge amd resources would be a benefit to any church in our classis, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
“The new playground was installed and opened under budget, two months ahead of deadline, and in conformance to the updated safety standards of the state of NJ,” said Mr. Sliker. ”With this first phase of our revitalization project now completed, we are moving on making improvements to other areas of the church building used by Pixie Preschool.”
